I would like to introduce you all to my beautiful dog… Lulu.
She is a Labrador crossed with whippet. Unusual cross I know. As a puppy she was an adorable Andrex puppy… but in black. Unfortunately I do not have any puppy pictures of her as she is around 13years old, the mobile phone I had then only just developed color screen!
I have tried to find a similar picture of her as a puppy just for you all to see how adorable she was.
As a puppy the only thing my family and I could see is Labrador. We actually started thinking the place we had her from lied to us! As the years went by it slowly seemed like we had our very own episode of Pinocchio! Her nose came out of no where! The whippet finally came out. Her body changed shape into the whippet, it was as if she mutated… or shape shifted! The change was incredible.
4 years ago I applied for the royal navy . So it was time to get fit. Lulu was great company for this! We used to go out at least 5 times a week. Running or walking she kept me company the whole way through my training period. As she had whippet in her, she was naturally a running dog and needed the exercise. She was so fast!
I will never forget, one evening I came home from work and mention the word ‘park’ to her. And she must understand English I swear! She went straight to her cupboard with her lead in… weird!
When we get to the park she enjoys wandering around and looking for squirrel’s. This is one of her favorite things to do in the park, she can spot them from the other end of the field. If she spots one nearby it gets very interesting… There’s a bit of a stand off, they make eye contact and she starts creeping forward. Ever so gently she will tip toe, and then boooooom shes gone. I think if she ever caught one, and there have been many close calls! She wouldn’t know what to do with it… I will keep you informed of when that day comes.
I have to say I am so glad my mum bought her, she is a wonderful dog. With her Labrador side, she is so cwtchy and loving. She stuck by my side through all the tough running I put her through. I wouldn’t know what to do without her. The famous saying ‘ a dog is mans best friend’ definitely describes her.
I will keep you all updated on our next adventure…
